Tamara Bouman

Tamara is a graduate from Pilates International Training Centre (PilatesITC), graduating in February 2021 with a Diploma of Professional Pilates Instruction.

Originally growing up in Sydney, Tamara pursued training as a contemporary dancer at the Victorian College of the Arts (VCA) and graduated in 2019. Moving back to Sydney, the pandemic left her unable to perform and Tamara was led to expand her movement practice and knowledge by training as a Pilates instructor. Through this study with Pilates International Training Centre, she has found a love of teaching, the Pilates method and a community that helped get her through 2020.

Alongside her Pilates qualification, she brings 20+ years of body knowledge from her dance training to aid her in her practice and work as an instructor. Pilates has supported Tamara’s dance career for many years, and she has always been intrigued by the body; how it moves, operates, and functions, and how to create the most balanced, efficient, and effective movement.

As well as having a beautiful, long and prosperous career as a Pilates instructor, Tamara now works as an emerging professional contemporary dancer/artist in both Sydney and Melbourne. When out of the studio, Tamara can be found rehearsing for upcoming performances, going hiking, sailing or rock climbing. She also enjoys attending performances by local musicians, dancers, and artists or simply lying on the couch with a good book and a cuddle from her dog Buddy.
